On Saturday, creative placemaking organisation LOCAL,  opened its first international photography exhibition at Astley Cheetham Gallery in Stalybridge - Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture for 2022, in partnership with Tameside Council.

Pairing photographers from Sweden and Greater Manchester, the show, called Local // Lokal examines what it is to be a ‘local’ by looking inwardly at our own communities, and outwardly across borders, to find our similarities and differences.

‍

LOCAL aims for this show to be the first in a series of international exhibitions between far away places, seeing the method as vital to understanding what key features make places and what residents and visitors alike need to experience places to their fullest potential.
