Lots of local people have been working hard to transform and take care of Chadwick Dam. Thanks to the BeeNetwork walking and cycling route and an accessible path, everyone can get to this peaceful spot.

Take time out in nature. Enjoy artwork, story walks and signage created with the local community around Chadwick Dam.

Getting here

There’s a Bee Network walking and cycling route to park and you can lock up your bike. Nearby schools use the network to make active journeys to and from school or to enjoy the natural scenery.

There’s an accessible path down from the hospital. There are two pay and display car parks either side on Darnton Road, Stalybridge.

Listen to a story walk

Local residents and artists have created a range of story walks to help you explore and enjoy Chadwick Dam. Listen as you walk or wheel - there’s a story for everyone.

What will you discover?

Chadwick Dam offers a world of outdoor play and nature spotting. It’s already been

the setting for all sorts of discoveries on family nature walks, foraging wanders, bat

spotting sessions - even the first sighting in these parts of the fungus poplar bells

(Schizophyllum amplum).

Chadwick Dam is a haven outside the hospital, a green space to take a moment. It’s

also a great place to meet up for picnics, chats and play. What memories will you

make? What stories will you share? What will you discover? Meet you at the starry

night!
