Portland Basin Museum has joined forces with Ashton-based arts hub Phantasmagoria on this exciting and creative grant funded project resulting in a display of artwork on the ground floor of Portland Basin Museum.
Inspired by some of the most intriguing objects in the museum collections, the project engaged individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health challenges, neurodiversity, learning difficulties and disabilities as well as local families and young people.
Through a number of workshops, participants worked alongside poet and writer Jack Horner, and visual artists Ann Gilligan, Rachel Wood and Toubie Jack to create stories, poems, paintings, prints and collages.
It has involved Tameside residents of all ages and abilities from Phantasmagoria Wellbeing Group, Tameside Women and their Families Centre, People First Tameside, Tameside Young Carers and family workshops at Portland Basin Museum.
The display can be seen on the ground floor of Portland Basin Museum until Sunday 9th February 2025.
