Fun Palaces is an ongoing campaign for culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture, with an annual weekend of joint action every October.
The initiative supports buildings, venues, organisations, groups and individuals to create their own community-led events, shining a light on the skills, passions and enthusiasms in every locality, so they can be shared more widely and more equally. Fun Palaces are about active and hands-on participation for all ages and all levels of experience and involvement.
Fun Palaces believes that everyone and anyone should be able to create and share the culture that matters to them. You can read more about Fun Palaces and the Campaign here…
The year-round campaign works towards a world where everyone has a say in what counts as culture, where it happens, who makes it, and who experiences it.
The Weekend of Celebration happens every year on the first weekend of October, when anyone can be a Fun Palace Maker. On the weekend, makers run fun, free and locally-led activities, public venues hand over their space for community-led takeovers and similar events happening throughout the year can be shared and celebrated as part of the Fun Palaces movement.
