Tameside arts group, Made by Mortals, is bringing back their unique brand of creativity to Stalybridge Civic Hall this Easter half term.
This free event, called the Armchair Adventures Installation Extravaganza, is an immersive, interactive experience for all the family, based on the award winning children’s podcast, Armchair Adventures.
Armchair Adventures is an interactive series for children made by older adults from the Tameside community.
Each episode is a journey of the imagination using music, movement, song and drama, and made using the community's experiences, passions and interests as inspiration. In each episode, we join chief adventurer Connie and her plucky gang of adventurers on a journey of the imagination, visit magical places and meet extraordinary people, all whilst joining in with loads of sing-and-move-along fun.
The series has been recommended by BBC Radio 4, Podcast Radio, and FunKids. It won 'Best Podcast' in The Manchester Publicity Association awards 2021, 'Best Use of Tech by a Non-Profit' in The Digital City awards 2022, and Bronze in the ‘Best Family Podcasts’ category at the British Podcast Awards 2022.
During the event, children and their families can walk around the installation where 10 podcast episodes have been brought to life. There’ll also be a music theatre workshop for children aged 6-10 to enjoy with the makers of Armchair Adventures.
Made by Mortals’ mission is to cultivate a community of creative citizens. Its community includes professional artists, health and social care practitioners, commissioners and researchers. Through drama, the new workshop aims to develop soft skills that help children with communication, active listening, problem-solving, teamwork and empathy.
The free limited-place sessions, which will take place on Wednesday 12th April, are available to book here on Eventbrite. Armchair Adventures - Armchair Adventures - A 'Get Moving' Theatre workshopTickets, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite
