Get crafty at Portland Basin Museum this half-term

Join us at Portland Basin Museum for four gorgeous craft activities led by local artists Caroline Coates and Rachel Wood.

All of the sessions are drop in between 11am and 3pm and cost just £1.30 per child for all of the materials you will need.

🌼 Mini Beast Magic 🦋🐞

Your little one will have the chance to make beautiful origami bugs and butterflies inspired by the creatures they encounter outdoors. How about transforming them into a whimsical mobile that gently sways in the breeze?

🌸Pom-Pom Floral Fun 🌺🌈

Join us for a blooming good time as we delve into the world of flowers. Children will have a blast making their own pom-pom floral displays using colorful paper pom-poms. These vibrant creations are not only visually pleasing but also incredibly simple to make.

🫛 Peas in a Pod 🫛 🌼

This activity is all about ‘all things spring-time’ and your child will get to make the cutest group of wool pom-pom peas for their printed card pod! There will be peas to take away with you to plant and grow your own pea shoots!

Thursday 8th June

🦁 Roaring Lions 🦁 ♌

Create magnificent lions based on the iconic lion that is part of the Manchester Regiment coat of arms. They'll learn mark making techniques and explore the art of collage to bring their lion to life with courage and a wild spirit!

All of the craft activities are suitable for children of all ages. Remember, children must be accompanied at all times, and please note that there might be a slight wait if the craft area is busy.

Throughout the holidays there will also be free self-led activities and a new trail from Monday 29th May. Entry to the museum is free 10am-4pm Tuesdays – Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday. For more information about Portland Basin Museum and how to get there click here.
