Tameside Cultural Services, part of Tameside Council is inviting local businesses in Ashton to team up with local artists, and help light up the town centre for Christmas.
Each business chosen to be a part on the trail will work with an artist who will create artwork which will light up their shop or venue window display. The trail will add that extra sparkle to Ashton’s festivities and encourage footfall to the town over Christmas and support local businesses.
All the window displays will be turned on the 19th November coinciding with Northern Lights - Tameside Christmas Celebration and a special map will be produced which families will be able to pick up from Ashton library to follow the trail. The window displays will remain in place for residents to enjoy throughout December and into the New Year.
The artwork will be installed on Thursday 17th November to be ready for Saturday 19th November and the artwork will be removed between 7th - 10th January 2023. There is no cost to businesses to be involved in the trail and local artists will be responsible for both installing the artwork as well as removal.
Please express your interest in being involved in the trail as soon as possible by contacting events@tameside.gov.uk or phoning Natasha Lolljee on 0161 342 4166 by 26th October 2022. We will be choosing businesses based on location to create a trail, which encourages visitors to walk around the town. In order for visitors to enjoy the trial at all times of day, we will require businesses to either not have shutters or have long opening hours Monday – Sunday.
